Hungry. Alone. Hopeless. Help us provide food, homes, education, medical care, and opportunities for orphans and impoverished children. Your support can change a child's life.

Human Interest Story

The smell from the waste and raw sewage is overwhelming. Garbage and debris line the dirt paths winding through the endless sea of rusted tin and mud huts. Children are roaming the streets in search of food or sniffing glue to mask their hunger and misery. This is the scene in Kibera, the world's largest slum and home to the former Gospel Believers Children's Home. Pastor Patrick Kimawachi and his wife Adalight began taking in the increasing number of orphans years ago. They had little more to give them beyond their love and guidance. The numbers swelled to over 32 children sharing 10 mattresses and eating one meal a day of beans and rice. The Kimawachis constantly worried how they would care for the children.

The Alliance for Youth Achievement has been working with Gospel Believers since 2001. In 2007, AYA had raised enough money to move the home to a beautiful 3 acres farm where they grow their own vegetables, raise poultry and cows, and have a spring with clean water. The home can now run self-sufficiently and the children never have to worry where their next meal is coming from.
