A Life Unwasted Jacob is retired. He could quit working and enjoy his "golden years", but he won't do that. Jacob wants to give 27 orphans the chance to live life the way God intended them to. In Ghana, orphans are common. AIDS, malaria and other diseases rob children of their parents. Jacob opened a home and school for orphans in the northern part of Ghana and intends to work there for the rest of his life. Jacob's friends discourage him. "They tell me, 'don't waste your life on those children'", he said. "You should retire and rest." This advice makes him feel alone in his mission and isolated from help. When Children's Hunger Fund (CHF) brought news that a Mercy Network would soon begin providing food for his orphans, he was overjoyed. "Now I know that I have brothers! I know that God hears me when I pray." Jacob's story is not unique. In Ghana, many local churches desire to reach out and help their communities, but do not have resources to do so. CHF's Mercy Network is able to train, equip and supply those ministries with the tools they need to give effective, compassionate care to poor children. With CHF's help churches across America and around the world bring staple foods and other aid to supply churches for their work in caring for the poor. CHF desires to encourage ministry leaders, like Jacob, to know that a life spent bringing hope to children is anything but wasted.
